 I was born and raised in Luoyang, a vibrant Chinese city that was also the capital of nine ancient dynasties.  When I was twelve years old, I transferred to a new school in Shanghai for a better education.Thanks to my father who is a petrochemical engineer and my mother who is a literature teacher, I grew up in an excellent academic environment and was always inspired to pursue my dreams. I initially wanted to become a pianist, so I started learning piano when I was four. However, I gradually become fascinated by nature and science. My interest and enthusiasm in mathematics also drove me to win the first prize at the age of eleven in the 8th Hua Luogeng Cup National Mathematics Contest. Since then, I have aspired to pursue a career in science and engineering. 

 I have always been fascinated by the beauty of design, for it reflects the brilliant original ideas of the designer. Other than reproduction and imitation, an excellent design originates from the nature of science and human needs. By means of design, I am able to convert inspiration from nature and life into novel products and mechanical systems, and achieve my ambition to rationally utilizing resources and benefiting humankind.

Shell Ecomarathon Urban Concept Aerodynamic and Aesthetic Body Design

 Shanghai Jiao Tong – Penn State Global Capstone Projects         Dec. 2011 – June. 2012

  Undergraduate Project, Supervised by Asso. Prof. Tong Wang and Prof. Chris Rahn

  • Designed a car body aerodynamically and aesthetically based on SolidWorks

  • Applied FEA and CFD to make analysis and optimization based on Ansys and Fluent

  • Made a carbon-fiber prototype and compared the results from wind tunnel experiment with CFD data
